Chef Khanna Promotes India‑US Trade Portal for Food Exports
A famous Indian chef named Vikas Khanna is helping Indian food companies sell their products in the United States.
He and the U.S. trade portal let them show their food online, find buyers, and even get advice from big companies.
The portal was started in April 2024 and aims to help India sell $50 billion worth of food in the U.S. The U.S. consul in New York, Binaya Pradhan, said this will make India a top food exporter.
The Indian government wants to grow trade with the U.S. to $500 billion by 2030, especially for small businesses.
Chef Vikas Khanna is promoting the India‑US Trade Facilitation Portal to help Indian exporters reach the U.S. market.
The portal, launched in April, offers virtual exhibitions, AI‑based opportunity matching, and connections to major U.S. retailers like Amazon, Costco, and Walmart.
Khanna estimates India could export $50 billion of food to the U.S., a target that aligns with the $500 billion bilateral trade goal by 2030.
India’s consul general in New York, Binaya Pradhan, praised the portal as a tool to strengthen bilateral trade and position India as a global food‑export leader.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of External Affairs to boost business links between India and the U.S., especially for small and medium enterprises.
