CPI(M) Slams AIADMK for Supporting SIR, Urges Public to Vote Against Them
A leader from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), named P Shanmugam, is upset with another political party called AIADMK.
He said that the AIADMK is supporting a process called SIR, which is about checking voter lists.
Shanmugam thinks this SIR process is bad, just like he believes the AIADMK's past support for something called CAA-NRC was bad because it could affect people's citizenship.
He is asking people in Tamil Nadu to remember this and not vote for AIADMK in the future.
Another group of parties, led by DMK, is also planning to protest against SIR soon.
CPI(M) State Secretary P Shanmugam criticized the AIADMK for supporting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Shanmugam urged the people of Tamil Nadu to teach the AIADMK a lesson for their support of SIR.
He drew a parallel between AIADMK's support for SIR and their backing of the CAA-NRC, which he claims affects citizenship.
The DMK-led Secular Democratic Progressive Alliance is scheduled to protest against the SIR exercise.
The CPI(M) leader's statement was made a day before the planned protest.
