Gram Sabha opposes Jathiya Devi mountain township land acquisition
In Shimla, a local village council called Gram Panchayat Bagi had a meeting where most people agreed not to give their land for a new town project called Jathiya Devi mountain township.
The project is planned by the government and will cost a lot of money.
The town is supposed to be built near Shimla city and an airport.
Many people in the village are worried because the government wants to take their farmland, shared village land, and even some forest areas.
Almost all the families in the village signed a paper saying they don't want the government to take their land.
The village leader said they will give this paper to the state's top leaders to show that the people don't want the project.
The government had already taken some land for this project a long time ago, but nothing was built there.
Now, people are more upset because they don't want to lose their land and jobs.
Gram Panchayat Bagi passed a resolution opposing land acquisition for the Jathiya Devi mountain township.
280 out of 418 households signed the resolution, showing overwhelming opposition.
The project aims to acquire 249 hectares of land across nine villages, affecting 386 households.
The land includes agricultural holdings, common village land (shamlat), and forest land.
The resolution will be submitted to the Chief Minister and other officials for consideration.
