Apple’s Camera-Equipped AirPods Delayed to 2027 Amid AI Wearables Push
Apple is reportedly making AirPods with tiny cameras.
The cameras would help the earbuds understand nearby objects and places.
They would not mainly be used for taking ordinary pictures or videos.
This could give Siri more information to answer questions about the wearer’s surroundings.
A leaked video showed a book being held up for the earbuds to identify.
Apple had reportedly hoped to release the product in 2026.
Supply and software problems pushed the expected launch to 2027.
Some people worry that camera earbuds could be used to record others without permission.
Apple has not officially announced the product or confirmed its release date.
Apple reportedly moved the camera-equipped AirPods’ target launch from 2026 to 2027.
Supply-chain constraints and software-development problems reportedly caused the delay.
Low-resolution cameras would analyze surroundings for Siri and other AI features, not conventional photography.
A leaked macOS developer video showed the earbuds identifying a book through Visual Intelligence.
Apple is reportedly developing B790 and B798 models but has not confirmed either product or its timeline.
