India-UK FTA to be Signed Amidst Political Scrutiny
India and the UK are about to sign a new trade deal, which means they'll trade more goods with each other without tariffs.
A political party in India, Congress, is not happy with the government and is instead asking for an agreement to get back people who have run away to the UK from India, like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, and Lalit Modi.
The new trade agreement, signed after three years of talks, is intended to make it easier for Indian goods to be sold in the UK, and vice versa, with the intention to eliminate tariffs on about 99% of product categories.
India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is set to be signed.
Congress criticized the government, suggesting a Fugitive Transfer Agreement is more important.
The FTA aims to boost trade and eliminate tariffs on 99% of Indian exports.
The deal was finalized after three years of negotiations.
An "UK-India Vision 2035" will be unveiled to enhance partnership.
