Kamakoti Leads NTA Task Force Amid Exam Leak Controversy
V Kamakoti, the director of IIT Madras, has been chosen to help fix problems with India's big exams, like NEET.
He says the main problem is that people sometimes leak exam papers, not the technology.
He wants to use cameras and AI to catch bad behavior.
Some politicians are upset with Kamakoti because of his past comments about cow urine.
Despite that, he has led IIT Madras to build its own computer chips and open a campus in Zanzibar.
He also failed the JEE exam when he was young but later became its chairman.
The new task force will try to make exams fairer and safer.
V Kamakoti, IIT Madras director, appointed to lead a new task force to reform the National Testing Agency after NEET leaks.
The task force includes Nandan Nilekani, former ISRO chairman S Somanath, and former Intelligence Bureau director Tapan Deka.
Kamakoti argues that exam leaks stem from human trust issues, not technology, and calls for better oversight and AI monitoring.
He has faced political criticism over comments about cow urine (gaumutra) and was labeled a pseudoscience advocate by some scientists.
Kamakoti, who failed the JEE exam, has guided IIT Madras to launch India's first indigenous Shakti processor and open an offshore campus in Zanzibar.
