Temple Relocation Sparks Conflict in Anantapur
In Anantapur, a temple named Goddess Mysore Sarojamma Temple was moved from a national highway to a new place called Kakkalapalli village.
But some people, including a temple priest and transgender individuals, brought the temple's idol back to the old spot.
The police have registered cases against them.
The temple was moved because it was on the highway, but some devotees were not happy because they think it's not right to move temples during a special time called Sunya Masam.
The police are now keeping an eye on the place.
Goddess Mysore Sarojamma Temple was relocated from a national highway to Kakkalapalli village as per High Court directives.
A group of people, including the temple priest and transgender individuals, reinstalled the idol at the original location.
Cases were registered against nine individuals for obstructing officials from performing their duties.
Devotees objected to the relocation during Sunya Masam, a period when holy activities are not performed.
Police have posted a picket at the site to maintain order.
