Kudankulam Nuclear Plant Unit-3 Nears Operation Amidst Indo-Russian Cooperation
Imagine a big power plant that makes electricity using atoms, called a nuclear power plant.
India and Russia are working together to build and run these plants.
One of these big plants, called Kudankulam, is getting a new part, Unit-3, ready to start making power.
They are checking all its safety parts, like making sure the alarms work.
Other parts of the plant are still being built too.
Leaders from Russia and India met to talk about building more of these power plants, especially newer, more powerful ones, and making the parts for them in India.
India wants to make a lot more electricity from nuclear power, and Russia wants to help by sharing their technology.
Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant Unit-3 in Tamil Nadu is in the pre-commissioning phase.
Rosatom is conducting safety system tests on Unit-3's open reactor.
Units 1 and 2 are operational, supplying electricity since 2013 and 2016 respectively.
Indo-Russian officials discussed expanding cooperation, including VVER-1200 technology and local equipment production.
India aims to reach 100 GW of nuclear capacity, with Rosatom ready to assist.
