Renault Exits Car-Sharing, Scales Back EV Charging
Renault is a car company that has been trying new things like car-sharing and electric vehicle charging.
But now, the new boss, François Provost, thinks these ideas aren't making enough money.
So, Renault is stopping some of these services, like car-sharing in Milan and Madrid, and slowing down the building of fast-charging stations.
They will also move some workers around or let some go.
This is because the car industry is having a hard time, and Renault wants to spend its money on things that make more profit.
The new ideas were started by the old boss, Luca de Meo, in 2021, but now the company is changing its plans.
Renault is shutting down car-sharing services and slowing EV charging rollout.
The company will cut about 80 jobs from the Mobilize Beyond Automotive division.
Car-sharing services Zity in Milan and Madrid, and the Duo micro electric car will be discontinued.
Renault will reintegrate energy and data activities into the main group.
The changes are aimed at focusing on more profitable ventures and adjusting capital allocation.
