Up to 5 Coffee Cups Daily Safe for Most Adults
A new study by the American Heart Association says that most adults can safely drink up to five cups of coffee a day.
This amount of coffee, which has about 400 mg of caffeine, doesn't increase the risk of heart problems.
In fact, drinking two to four cups of coffee daily might even lower the risk of heart disease, heart failure, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes.
However, drinking more than four cups a day might increase the risk of heart failure in some people.
Energy drinks have much more caffeine and can be harmful to the heart.
Everyone's body reacts differently to caffeine, so it's important to pay attention to how you feel after drinking coffee or other caffeinated drinks and talk to your doctor about what's safe for you.
Up to 400 mg of caffeine daily (about 5 cups of coffee) is safe for most adults.
Moderate coffee consumption may lower risks of heart disease, heart failure, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes.
High caffeine intake, especially from energy drinks, can increase heart failure risk and cause abnormal heart rhythms.
Individual responses to caffeine vary based on genetics, metabolism, age, and medications.
More research is needed to understand the effects of different caffeine sources on cardiovascular health.
