NYC Fire Commissioner Resigns Over Lawmaker's Anti-Israel Stance
The person in charge of New York City's firefighters, Robert Tucker, is quitting his job.
He is leaving because he doesn't agree with the views of the new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, who has been critical of Israel.
Tucker has strong beliefs about Israel and feels he cannot work under the new mayor.
He will officially leave his job in December.
Before being fire commissioner, Tucker had his own security company that worked in both the U.S. and Israel.
The new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is a state lawmaker who will become the first Muslim and South Asian mayor of New York City in January.

Tucker's decision is reportedly influenced by his Zionist views and disagreement with incoming Mayor Zohran Mamdani's anti-Israel stance.

Tucker, appointed in 2023, oversees approximately 17,000 personnel and a $2.6 billion budget.
