Independence Day is the day India remembers becoming a free country.

The leader of Mumbai, Ritu Tawde, gave everyone a special greeting.

She raised the Indian flag high at her official house in Byculla.

The flag ceremony happened very early in the morning, at 7 o'clock.

She told everyone to keep love for their country in their hearts.

She also said we should remember the brave freedom fighters who helped India become free.

Other leaders, like the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, also raised the flag.
