Delhi Police Files FIR Against Social Media for Modi Posts
Delhi Police said that some people were posting mean and false things about the Prime Minister on social media.
They made a formal complaint, called an FIR, against the accounts that did this.
The police asked the social media companies X and Meta to give them the names and details of the people who posted the bad stuff and to take the posts down quickly.
They also said that the posts could upset people and cause trouble.
The police found about 500 accounts that shared fake videos about the protests and want them blocked.
Meta told the government that it will check the Prime Minister’s posts more carefully.
Delhi police filed an FIR against multiple social media handles for abusive posts about PM Narendra Modi during student protests at Jantar Mantar and after the Cockroach Janta Party march.
Police asked X and other platforms to provide user details and remove offending content within three hours, preserving logs for evidence.
The FIR cites charges of criminal intimidation, public mischief, and defamation, warning that such content could disturb public order.
Police identified about 500 accounts that shared deepfake and AI‑generated content related to the protests and recommended blocking them.
Meta notified the government of enhanced safeguards for posts by the Prime Minister and prominent accounts, with additional oversight by senior officials.
