IITM Sets up Lab to Study Air Pollutants and Health Risks
Scientists at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune have created a special lab to study air pollution.
They will look closely at tiny particles in the air to see what they are made of and how dangerous they are to our health.
The lab wants to build a system to predict air quality and warn people about health risks.
Unlike current systems, this lab will examine the chemical makeup of pollutants.
They will also study how these particles affect weather and the climate.
The lab will analyze particles in different regions of India, including cities and the Himalayas.
The goal is to create better air quality forecasts, understand climate change, and provide information for health advisories.
IITM in Pune established an Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratory.
The lab will analyze the chemical composition and toxicity of airborne particles.
The lab aims to develop a next-generation air quality prediction model.
It will also study the impact of aerosols on weather, climate, and health.
The lab is equipped with cutting-edge analytical instruments.
