Govt Data Shows Nearly 37% of Young Children Stunted
Many kids under five years old are not growing as tall as they should (stunted).
About 37% of them are stunted, meaning they are shorter than they should be for their age.
Some are also too thin (wasted) or underweight.
The government shared this information, and some states have higher rates of stunting than others.
The government is also working on improving childcare centers, called Anganwadis, to help kids grow up healthy.
Approximately 37% of children under five registered on the Poshan Tracker are stunted.
15.93% of children under five are underweight, and 5.46% are wasted.
Uttar Pradesh has the highest stunting rate at 48.83%.
Around 8.61 crore children up to age six were registered for services.
Approximately two lakh Anganwadi centers are being upgraded.
