Must-Visit Caves Preserve Ancient Art Across Global Landscapes
People long ago painted pictures on cave walls and rock shelters.
These pictures can be found in many places around the world.
Europe has some famous painted caves, but it is not the only region with ancient art.
India also has caves containing very old paintings.
The pictures show animals, hunting, rituals and daily activities.
They help people learn about how earlier communities lived.
Many of these caves are in landscapes that are not heavily visited.
Visiting them can combine history, art and exploring nature.
Ancient cave art exists beyond Europe’s famous painted caves.
Caves and rock shelters in India preserve prehistoric paintings.
Other sites around the world also contain ancient artwork.
