GHMC Expands and Reorganizes Operations
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made some big changes.
First, they stopped accepting cash for property tax, trade licence fees, and vacant land tax.
Now, you have to pay using cheques, UPI, credit/debit cards, or net banking.
This applies to all 60 areas under GHMC control, including the new areas that were recently added.
The GHMC wants to make sure everyone pays taxes in the same way, making the process easier and more uniform.
You can make these payments at special collection points or citizen service centres.
Additionally, the GHMC has assigned senior officers to oversee activities like issuing building permits and enforcing rules against illegal constructions.
They also introduced self-assessment for property tax and assigned specific officials to handle different property sizes and tax amounts.
This is all part of their efforts to improve efficiency and accountability.
GHMC has discontinued cash payments for property tax, trade licence fee, and vacant land tax in all 60 circles.
Payments must now be made via cheques, demand drafts, UPI, credit/debit cards, or net banking.
The change follows the merger of 27 urban local bodies into GHMC, expanding its jurisdiction to 2,503 square kilometres.
GHMC has assigned senior town planning officers to oversee activities related to building permits, occupancy certificates, and enforcement against illegal constructions across 12 zones.
Self-assessment of property tax is now possible, with deputy commissioners (DCs) and zonal commissioners (ZCs) handling enforcement based on property size and tax amount.
