Jain Youth Seek Centre for Jain Studies at Central University
A group of young Jain people from Kalaburagi, led by a former minister named Bhagwant Khuba, asked the government to create a special place for studying Jainism at a university in Kalaburagi.
They want this place to teach and research about Jain philosophy, history, and ethics.
They also want to honor a respected Jain leader who recently passed away.
The education minister listened to their request and said he would think about it.
The university is already growing and adding new programs, so this new center could be a great addition if it gets approved.
A delegation from the Kalaburagi District Jain Youth Forum met with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to propose a Centre for Jain Studies at the Central University of Karnataka (CUK).
The proposed center aims to promote academic research and teaching on Jain philosophy, ethics, history, and contributions to Indian civilization.
The center would honor the legacy of Param Pujya Karmayogi Swastishri Charukeerthi Bhattarak Mahaswamiji, a revered Jain spiritual leader from Shravanabelagola.
The delegation highlighted the benefits of the center for students and scholars, particularly in the Deccan region, and sought government support for fellowships and public lectures.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responded positively and assured the delegation that the proposal would be considered in consultation with academic bodies and university authorities.
