Passengers Must Pay for Extra Luggage on Trains
The Indian Railway Minister told the government that people traveling on trains will have to pay extra if they bring too much luggage.
Different train classes have different rules.
For example, in Second Class, you can bring 35 kg for free, but if you bring more than 70 kg, you have to pay.
The rules are similar in other classes too.
Big suitcases must be a certain size to be allowed in the passenger area.
If they are too big, they have to go in special luggage areas.
The railways want to make sure people follow these rules, just like at airports.
Passengers must pay for luggage exceeding free allowance limits on trains.
Free allowance and maximum limits vary by train class.
Excess luggage can be carried up to the maximum limit for a fee.
Large luggage must be booked and carried in brake vans or parcel vans.
Merchandise items are not allowed as personal luggage in compartments.
