Android Emergency Location Service Launches in India
Google has started a new feature called Emergency Location Service (ELS) for Android phones in India, beginning with Uttar Pradesh.
When you call or message the emergency number 112, your phone will automatically share your exact location with emergency responders.
This helps them find you quickly, even if you can't explain where you are.
The service works on most Android phones running version 6.0 or newer.
It uses GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell towers to find your location accurately.
Google says they don't keep your location data; it's only sent to emergency services.
This feature has already helped in over 20 million emergencies worldwide.
It's designed to work even in bad network conditions and turns off after the emergency call ends.
Uttar Pradesh is the first state in India to use this service, and it might spread to other states soon.
