UP Pollution Control Board Faces Significant Staff Shortage
Imagine a team that's supposed to keep the air and water clean in a big area, but almost half the people on the team are missing.
That's what's happening with the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
Out of 732 jobs, about 355 are empty.
They're trying to hire new people, but it takes time.
Some new engineers were hired, but not everyone showed up for work.
Because so many jobs are open, it might be harder for the board to do its job of protecting the environment, especially in cities like Noida.
Almost half the positions in the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board are vacant.
The UPPCB has a sanctioned strength of 732 posts, with 355 vacant as of August 1, 2025.
Requisitions have been sent to fill 115 Group C posts, with the process ongoing.
42 junior engineers were appointed between July 2024 and July 2025, but only 28 joined.
Details on compliance with the Supreme Court's directive to fill vacancies could not be shared.
