Jio Confident in Growth Without Tariff Hike
Reliance Jio, a big telecom company in India, says it doesn't need to raise prices right now.
They are happy with how much money they make from each customer, which is growing because more people are using 5G.
Other companies like Airtel and Vodafone Idea want to raise prices to make more money, but Jio thinks they can grow without doing that.
Jio is also getting ready to list its business on the stock market, which might be a good time to raise prices.
They are also focusing on home internet and other digital services to make more money.
Additionally, Jio's video-on-demand platform, JioHotstar, has introduced new monthly plans to give customers more flexibility, though they have raised the price of annual plans for some users.
Reliance Jio sees no immediate need for a tariff hike, confident in organic ARPU growth driven by 5G usage.
Jio's ARPU rose 1.1% sequentially to ₹213.7 in the December quarter, with a 5-5.5% increase over the last year.
Airtel and Vodafone Idea advocate for tariff hikes to improve returns on capital, with Airtel's ARPU at ₹256 and Vodafone Idea's at ₹167.
Jio's upcoming IPO may influence the timing of the next tariff hike, expected around the listing in the first half of 2025.
Jio is focusing on home broadband, with 11.5 million subscribers and a target of 100 million, and is expanding its digital services.
