CPM Criticizes Government Solar Policy as Pro-Corporate
Ch Babu Rao from the CPM criticized the government's solar power policy, saying it benefits big companies instead of regular people.
He mentioned that solar power costs less in the open market but the government wants to pay more for farm use.
He also said the government is adding extra charges to electricity bills, which the Chief Minister had promised not to do.
He asked why households get less money for extra solar power compared to big companies.
He wants the government to cancel these extra charges and make the policy fairer for everyone.
CPM's Ch Babu Rao accused the government of favoring large corporations in solar power initiatives.
He highlighted that solar power costs Rs 2 per unit in the open market but the government proposes Rs 3.18 per unit for farm use.
Babu Rao claimed the government has imposed Rs 23,884 crore in surcharges and duty hikes over 17 months.
He criticized the continued collection of a 40-paise-per-unit levy despite a reported reduction in generation costs.
He demanded the cancellation of unlawful charges and a reduction in purchase tariffs through open tenders.
