Assam Approves ₹50,000-Crore Package With Proton Therapy Centre

Assam’s government has approved a very large development package worth ₹50,000 crore.

The money will be used for buildings, roads, electricity and welfare programs.

Tea garden workers may receive better housing.

Schools, students, women’s facilities and Anganwadi centres are also included.

The plan also aims to strengthen embankments that help protect against floods.

Healthcare services and primary health centres are expected to receive support.

A separate ₹600-crore project will create a Proton Beam Therapy facility in Guwahati.

This would bring advanced cancer treatment to a government hospital in India for the first time, according to the report.
