Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 Marks 150 Years of Vande Mataram
India celebrates a very special day every year called Independence Day.
This year, India will celebrate its 80th Independence Day.
The government has started a special campaign called 'Har Ghar Tiranga,' which means 'Tiranga in every home.'
The Tiranga is India's flag, which has three colours, and the campaign asks every family to display it at home.
The campaign runs from August 9 to August 17.
This year the campaign is extra special because it honors 150 years of 'Vande Mataram,' a famous song that is India's National Song.
Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay wrote that song long ago, and it inspired people during India's freedom struggle.
A government minister named Gajendra Singh Shekhawat started the campaign in New Delhi.
The campaign wants people to feel proud and connected to their country's flag.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign in New Delhi on Thursday, with Randhir Jaiswal and Dr Sachchidanand Joshi in attendance.
The campaign runs from August 9 to August 17, 2026, as India prepares to celebrate its 80th Independence Day.
This year's edition is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram', written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and published in his novel Anandamath.
