BMC Proposes ₹2.42 Crore Juhu Beach Cleaning Contract
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai has proposed a new contract worth ₹2.42 crore to clean Juhu Beach.
The previous contract ended in June 2026, and since then, a lot of waste has been washing up on the shore.
The BMC has been working hard to clean up the beach, removing about 180 metric tonnes of waste every day.
They have chosen a company called Deepak and Sons Transcon LLP to do the cleaning for the next 18 months.
This new contract is cheaper than the old one.
The BMC is also working to transport the waste to a dumping ground.
Some people think the BMC is doing a good job, while others believe more needs to be done to protect the environment.
BMC proposes a new ₹2.42 crore contract for Juhu Beach cleaning after the previous contract expired on June 4, 2026.
Deepak and Sons Transcon LLP is selected for the 18-month contract, offering a 24% lower rate per shift.
The BMC has been removing around 180 metric tonnes of waste daily, with 1,800 metric tonnes cleared in the past 10 days.
Heavy rainfall and high tides have increased marine debris to nearly 350 metric tonnes daily.
The waste collected from Juhu Beach is transported to the Deonar dumping ground using privately hired dumpers and JCB machines.
