Tata Trusts Lawyer Challenges Tata Sons Board Reappointment Decision

Tata Trusts Lawyer Challenges Tata Sons Board Reappointment Decision

Tata Trusts owns about 66% of Tata Sons.

Tata Sons’ board voted to keep N Chandrasekaran as chairman for five more years.

Noel Tata, who leads Tata Trusts, voted against that decision.

He said the chairman had earlier decided not to seek another term.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi is representing Tata Trusts in the disagreement.

He said a board should not ignore the wishes of such a large shareholder.

He also said Tata Trusts’ money is meant to support charities such as hospitals, universities, scholarships, and research.

The disagreement could become a court fight.

Noel Tata also objected to plans to list Tata Sons publicly.
