Bhopal Civic Body Seals Hospital Over Building-Use Violations
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation sealed Siddhanta Hospital on Wednesday.
The hospital was operating in a building at the Red Cross Society premises.
The BMC said the building was approved to be a two-floor working women’s hostel, not a taller hospital.
Officials also said required fire-safety arrangements were missing.
The hospital’s permission to operate had already been cancelled by a health official over alleged irregularities.
Officials said no staff or patients were there when the building was sealed.
The BMC is discussing what should happen to the structure with the Red Cross Society.
After the required process, action that could include demolition may start in about 30 days.
