Bengal Congress Protests Alleged Paralysis of Kolkata Civic Body

In Kolkata, a group of people from a political party called Congress wanted to talk to the leaders who run the city's local government, called the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

The group said the city's services, like water, cleaning, and other everyday help, are not working well.

They thought the people in charge were making unfair decisions without asking anyone.

Police stopped the group on the road before they could reach the government building.

The protesters then sat down on the road, which made traffic stop in that area.

The leader of the protest was a man named Subhankar Sarkar.

The protesters said the city's voting areas were changed without asking people or doing a new count of residents.

They also said residents are having a hard time getting basic services.

They said some local leaders are scared and are quitting.

The group promised to keep protesting until things get better.
