Dutta’s Allegations Put Patekar at Center of India’s #MeToo Wave

Tanushree Dutta said Nana Patekar harassed her during a film song shoot in 2008.

Patekar denied doing what she said.

Dutta spoke about the incident again in 2018, and her story helped more people in India speak about harassment at work.

She filed a police complaint, but investigators later said they had not found enough evidence to support it.

Dutta disputed how the police handled the investigation.

In 2025, a court closed the complaint because it was filed after the legal time limit and no request to excuse the delay had been made.

The court did not decide whether the alleged incident happened.

Articles say Patekar died in October 2026, and the case can no longer be heard in court.

Dutta has also said the controversy harmed her career and that she faced further harassment, claims that are not independently established in the articles.
