TN to expand AI curriculum to all govt schools
Tamil Nadu is planning to introduce an emerging technologies curriculum in all government schools for students in Classes 6 to 8.
This initiative, discussed at a meeting chaired by School Education Minister A. Rajmohan, aims to provide students with digital skills and hands-on experience with AI, coding, and digital tools.
The curriculum, currently piloted in 5,000 schools under the TN SPARK program, will be expanded to all government schools.
Textbooks for Classes 6 to 8 are already prepared, and those for higher classes will follow.
The curriculum will progressively introduce students to digital awareness, fundamentals of emerging technologies, and practical projects.
Advanced concepts like generative AI and prompt engineering will also be covered.
The government is considering offering this curriculum as an elective for Classes 11 and 12, benefiting over 60 lakh students.
