Haryana Launches Scheme to Support Poor Prisoners
Imagine people are in jail because they can't pay for bail or small fines.
The government in Haryana is starting a new program to help these people.
The program will have special groups in each area, made up of important people from the government and legal system.
These groups will find people who need help and give them money so they can get out of jail.
The government wants to make sure everyone is treated fairly and gets a second chance.
They're asking local leaders to check on the program and make sure it's working well, so the people in jail can go home if they qualify.
Haryana launched the 'Support to Poor Prisoners' scheme for equitable access to justice.
The scheme follows the Union Ministry of Home Affairs' SOPs and aims to help prisoners unable to afford bail or fines.
Empowered Committees, including District Magistrates and prison officials, will be formed in each district.
These committees will identify, assess, and facilitate financial aid to eligible prisoners.
Deputy Commissioners are instructed to submit compliance reports within 15 days.
