Bapatla’s Role in Andhra State Formation Recalled at Anniversary

People gathered in Bapatla to remember the formation of Andhra Pradesh.

They also remembered how Bapatla helped start the Andhra movement.

D Venkatrao said the movement helped shape the identity of Telugu-speaking people.

The first Andhra Mahasabha meeting took place in Bapatla in 1913.

This began a movement that continued for about four decades.

The movement encouraged Telugu people to seek a separate state.

Participants honored Telugu Talli with flowers.

They also sang “Maa Telugu Talliki.”
