Rohini Acharya backs RJD overhaul, urges priority for veterans
In the Indian state of Bihar, a political party called the RJD is making big changes.
The party was started by Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is still its chief.
Recently, the party decided to remove all its old committees and start fresh.
Rohini Acharya, who is Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter and lives in Singapore, said this was a good idea.
She said the party should have made this change much earlier.
She wants the party to give important roles to older, loyal workers who have served for a long time.
The change came after the party lost an important election in the Bankipur area.
After that loss, some party members argued with each other.
Rohini thinks the party will become strong again if it follows the founder's ideas.
Now the RJD will build new committees and hope to do better in the future.
Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and based in Singapore, welcomed the decision to dissolve all party organisational units and cells, saying it should have been done earlier.
She urged RJD Working President Tejashwi Yadav to give priority to veteran leaders and loyal, dedicated workers of Lalu Prasad Yadav while forming new committees.
RJD State President Mangni Lal Mandal announced on Thursday the dissolution of all party committees from state level down to district, block and panchayat levels, along with all party cells.
Rohini said the RJD could be strengthened only by following the ideals and organisational principles established by party founder Lalu Prasad Yadav, and stressed the inclusion of grassroots leaders.
The overhaul comes after the RJD's defeat in the Bankipur Assembly by-election, following which internal differences surfaced, including public exchanges between MLA Bhai Virendra and chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav.
