ED Restores Rs 55.85 Crore Properties to SBI in Varron Aluminium Case, Attaches Rs 51.70 Crore Dubai Properties in AOPL Bank Fraud
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is giving back almost Rs 56 crore worth of property to the State Bank of India (SBI) in the Varron Aluminium case.
These properties were taken from a company called Varron Aluminium and its related businesses.
This company cheated SBI and another bank by taking loans and not paying them back.
The ED found out that the company used fake documents and shell companies to get money.
They seized properties worth a total of Rs 179 crore.
Now, because the law says that stolen or misused property should be returned to its rightful owner, the ED is giving back these specific properties to SBI.
SBI had asked for them back, and a special court agreed, so the ED is now returning them.
In a separate case, the ED has attached nine luxurious properties in Dubai, worth Rs 51.70 crore, belonging to Shrikant Bhasi, the main director of Advantage Overseas Private Limited (AOPL).
AOPL defrauded SBI of Rs 1,266.63 crore through illegal merchanting trade transactions and other means.
The ED is investigating this case further.
