Republic Day 2026: Asharikandi’s Terracotta and Vande Mataram Themes
Next year's Republic Day Parade in New Delhi will feature special displays from different states.
One of these is from a village in Assam called Asharikandi, known for its beautiful terracotta and pottery work.
Their display will show a big terracotta doll with lamps and a special boat called the Mayurpangkhi, which is important to their culture.
Other states like West Bengal and Gujarat will also show their unique traditions, like the song 'Vande Mataram' and important historical figures.
This parade is a big celebration of India's culture and history, and it's a very exciting time for the artisans from Asharikandi to share their work with the whole country.
Asharikandi's terracotta craft will be featured in the Republic Day Parade 2026 in New Delhi, showcasing iconic elements like the Mayur Pankhi boat and Hatima Putul.
The tableau highlights Assam's rich terracotta tradition and cultural heritage, symbolizing light, continuity, and tradition.
West Bengal's tableau features a bust of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and other freedom fighters, celebrating the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram'.
Gujarat's tableau portrays the legacy of the Tricolour with 'Vande Mataram' and Bhikaji Cama's contributions to the freedom struggle.
The parade will include 30 tableaux, with themes like 'Swatantrata ka Mantra: Vande Mataram' and 'Samriddhi ka Mantra: Aatmanirbhar Bharat'.
