Pakistan mediates as US, Iran near possible Hormuz arrangement

Some countries are in conflict, but leaders from other countries are trying to help them make peace.

The conflict is between the United States and Iran, and it closed a very important water road called the Strait of Hormuz.

Ships use this water road to carry oil and other goods, so many countries want it to open again.

Pakistan's interior minister went to Iran's capital city, Tehran, to talk with Iran's foreign minister.

Pakistan and another country, Qatar, are helping both sides talk to each other.

Iran says it will only open the waterway if the United States changes how it acts and meets its demands.

Iran has six conditions, including stopping military action, ending sanctions, and returning its frozen money.

The United States also wants Iran to pay money for people hurt in attacks linked to Iran and in protests.

Talks between Iran and Oman about reopening the waterway have moved forward.

Everyone hopes these talks will help the waterway open again and end the conflict.
