Hyderabad: Fish Prasadam Distribution to Begin on June 8
Every year, a family in Hyderabad gives out fish filled with a special medicine called fish prasadam.
People who have trouble breathing, like those with asthma, come to get it.
The family says this has been happening for about 180 years and it started when their ancestor learned it from a sage.
The fish prasadam is supposed to help cure breathing problems if taken for a few years.
This year, they're expecting even more people than usual.
The government is helping out to make sure everything goes smoothly.
It's a tradition, but whether or not it works is something people disagree about.
The medicine is made up of a herbal paste that is inserted inside the fish.
The annual fish prasadam distribution will commence on June 8 at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, Hyderabad.
The event, a tradition for nearly 180 years, is organized by the Bathini family.
Approximately 4 to 5 lakh people are expected to attend, 10-15% more than the previous year.
The state government and fisheries department are providing support and resources.
