India Plans Mineral Exchange, Eyes Export Boost
The Indian government plans to create a new market for minerals, similar to the London Metal Exchange, to help companies and traders find fair prices.
This new market will be overseen by SEBI, India's financial regulator.
The government believes this will help boost exports and the overall economy.
They also mentioned that they do not expect new US tariffs to affect the Indian coal industry much and are working to use more Indian coal.
They're also working to increase production of coal, iron ore, and aluminium to export more.
Union mines minister announced a SEBI-regulated mineral trading exchange.
The exchange will be modelled on the London Metal Exchange.
Guidelines for the exchange will be issued soon.
Impact of US tariffs on India’s coal industry is expected to be minimal.
