Andhra Govt Pays Rs 4,500 Crore True-Up Dues
The new government in Andhra Pradesh has done something important to help people with their electricity bills.
They found out that the old government made some bad decisions that cost a lot of money, around Rs 32,166 crore.
This money was being added to people's electricity bills, making it harder for them to pay.
The new government has decided to take care of this extra cost so that people don't have to pay more.
They are also working on making electricity cheaper in the future by using more solar and wind power and being careful about how they buy electricity from other places.
This is the first time in 26 years that such a big change has been made to help people with their electricity bills.
The Andhra Pradesh government has implemented a historic True-Down to ease the financial burden on consumers due to previous power policies.
The previous YCP government's power policies resulted in an unjust Rs 32,166 crore burden imposed on the public through True-Up charges.
The current coalition government has absorbed the entire additional True-Up burden to prevent further financial stress on households.
The government is focusing on expanding solar and wind energy, along with battery storage and pumped storage systems, to reduce electricity costs.
The energy minister highlighted that the government has curtailed excessive power purchases from private players and restored power generation capacity to optimal levels.
