Kashmir Tourism Recovers After Pahalgam Attack
In April 2025, a terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, killed 26 people and scared away many tourists.
The attack hurt the tourism industry a lot.
But by June, some tourists started coming back, and the government worked hard to bring more visitors.
They held big events to show off India's food and places to visit.
The government also plans to make more cities ready for big international events in 2026.
Even though it was a tough year, they are trying to make tourism in Kashmir strong again.
A terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, killed 26 people, mostly tourists, and injured several others.
The attack significantly impacted tourism in Kashmir, causing a temporary exodus of tourists.
Tourists began gradually returning to Kashmir from June 2025, with groups from states like Maharashtra and Gujarat visiting popular resorts.
The government of Jammu and Kashmir and the Ministry of Tourism organized events like the International Tourism Mart and World Food India to revive tourism.
Plans for 2026 include establishing autonomous city-level convention promotion bureaus to boost India's MICE tourism ecosystem.
