Telangana to Introduce One-Time Tax for Mini Goods Vehicles
The government in Telangana, India, has decided to change how taxes are collected for small delivery trucks.
Instead of paying tax every three months, owners will now pay a single tax when they buy the vehicle.
This new tax is 7.5% of the vehicle's cost.
This change will make things easier for truck owners because they won't have to visit government offices every quarter to pay taxes.
It will also help them avoid big penalties if they forget to pay.
However, this new rule will only apply to new trucks and not to the ones already on the road.
There are about 40,000 such small trucks in Hyderabad alone, and this change is expected to benefit around 3,000 new trucks every year.
Telangana Cabinet approves one-time life tax for mini and light goods vehicles.
Tax rate is 7.5% of the vehicle’s cost at registration.
Aims to benefit around 3,000 new vehicles annually.
Replaces the current quarterly tax system, which incurs penalties for non-payment.
Applicable only to newly registered vehicles, not retrospectively to existing ones.
