Drone Strikes U.S. Tanker at Egypt’s Damietta Port
A small flying robot, called a drone, hit a big U.S. gas tanker named Energos Winter at a port in Egypt.
The hit caused a fire that spread to another tanker nearby.
Firefighters put the blaze out quickly and no one was hurt.
The attack happened while tensions were high in the Middle East, with Iran, the U.S., and Saudi Arabia fighting each other.
The U.S. President said he would retaliate against Iran for its attacks.
The tanker is owned by a U.S. company and is used to store and release gas.
The incident shows how dangerous the region has become.
A drone struck the U.S.-owned floating storage tanker Energos Winter at Egypt’s Damietta port, igniting a fire that spread to the nearby tanker Gaslog Salem.
The incident was reported by British maritime security firm Ambrey and confirmed by Egypt’s Petroleum Ministry, which said the fire was contained with no casualties.
The attack occurred amid heightened tensions, following Iran’s missile strikes on U.S. forces in Jordan and U.S.–Saudi strikes on Iran‑backed groups in Iraq.
U.S. President Donald Trump warned of retaliation against Iran and the Houthis, while the U.S. and Saudi Arabia launched joint air strikes on Iraq.
The Energos Winter is a floating storage and regasification unit owned by U.S. firm Energos Infrastructure, with operations managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management.
