PCMC Plans Bio-CNG & Waste-To-Energy Projects
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is working on two big projects to handle the city's garbage problem.
First, they are setting up a Bio-CNG project to turn household wet waste into clean fuel.
The central government has given them ₹67.50 crores for this.
Second, they are planning a 27-megawatt waste-to-energy project to burn dry waste and make electricity.
This project will cost ₹1,050 crores, with PCMC contributing ₹200 crores.
These projects aim to reduce garbage and help the environment.
The city produces 1,400 tonnes of waste daily, and these projects will help manage it better.
PCMC is setting up a Bio-CNG project to process 375 tonnes of household wet waste daily, with a central government grant of ₹67.50 crores.
A 27-megawatt waste-to-energy project is planned to incinerate 1,000 tonnes of dry waste daily, costing ₹1,050 crores with PCMC's share being ₹200 crores.
The existing waste-to-energy project generates 14 megawatts of electricity daily by incinerating 700 tonnes of dry waste.
A Material Recovery Facility (MRF) centre with a capacity of 1,500 tonnes will be established for the new waste-to-energy project.
The Moshi depot receives 450 tonnes of household wet waste daily, which will be processed by the Bio-CNG project.
