IndiGo Marks 20 Years of Giving Wings to the Nation
IndiGo is an airline company in India.
It just turned 20 years old.
When it started in 2006, it had only one airplane.
Today it has more than 430 airplanes.
IndiGo flies about 2,200 flights every single day.
It has carried almost 900 million passengers so far.
It helped make flying cheap and easy for people across India, including many small cities.
The airline also wants to grow bigger, with plans for more planes and flights by 2030.
Its leaders said thank you to everyone who helped IndiGo grow.
IndiGo began operations on 4 August 2006 with its first flight from Delhi to Imphal via Guwahati.
The airline has grown from a single aircraft to a fleet of more than 430, operating nearly 2,200 daily flights.
It now connects 140+ destinations and has served almost 900 million customers since inception.
IndiGo placed a record 500+ aircraft order with Airbus in 2023 and ordered 60 Airbus A350 wide-bodies with options for 40 more.
The carrier plans about 3,000 daily departures, nearly 200 million passengers annually, and a 550+ aircraft fleet by 2030.
