AASU Urges Re-Verification of NRC in Assam
Imagine a big list of people living in Assam, called the NRC.
Some people think the list isn't right.
The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) wants the government to check the list again.
They say the first list missed a lot of people.
They're also talking about how to protect the culture of the Assamese people.
They are working with the government on this.
They want to make sure everything is fair and everyone's rights are protected.
AASU urges Assam and Central governments to appeal to the Supreme Court for re-verification of the NRC.
The demand was made during a meeting on the implementation of the Assam Accord.
AASU is dissatisfied with the previous NRC and the government's lack of action.
Discussions have begun regarding 67 issues related to the Accord.
The sub-committee is reviewing recommendations for Clause 6 of the Accord.
