ECI Launches 'Book-a-Call with BLO' Service for UP Voters
The Election Commission of India has started a new service called 'Book-a-Call with BLO' to help voters in Uttar Pradesh with their electoral roll details.
This service allows voters to schedule a phone call with their Booth Level Officer (BLO) to get help with adding, removing, or correcting their information in the voter list.
The service is available online and through a mobile app, and voters can book a call using their voter ID or other details.
The BLOs have to respond within 48 hours.
The draft voter list was published recently, and voters can make changes or raise objections until February 6, 2026.
The proportion of voters deleted in the first draft of electoral rolls is uniform across minority-dominated areas and the rest of the state, with an average decline of 18.75% in high Muslim-density districts, almost matching the state average of 18.70%.
However, higher deletions have largely been observed in urban areas across Uttar Pradesh, with districts like Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur seeing significant reductions in voter numbers.
Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav claimed that BJP leaders knew how many voters would be removed from the SIR draft electoral roll even before it was published, questioning the poll panel's credibility.
He alleged that about 1.93 crore voters were unmapped after getting mapped, claiming that the BJP government is giving instructions to remove PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak - Backward Classes, Dalits, and Minorities) voters and increase its own share of voters.
The final electoral list will be published on March 6.
ECI launched 'Book-a-Call with BLO' service for UP voters to assist with electoral roll details.
Voters can book a call through voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET mobile app.
BLOs must respond to requests within 48 hours.
Draft electoral roll excludes 2.89 crore voters, retains 12.55 crore names.
Claims and objections period open from January 6 to February 6, 2026.
