NSUI Protesters Begin Hunger Strike on Jaipur Water Tank
Three students from the National Students’ Union of India climbed a water tank in Jaipur to protest that student union elections were not happening.
They said they would only drink water and not eat food until the government promised to bring back the elections.
A police officer told them he would talk to the deputy chief minister, but no clear promise was made.
The students have not used the toilet since yesterday and are worried about staying healthy.
Police are trying to convince them to come down, but the students want concrete steps before they do.
NSUI leaders Vijaypal Kudi, Viyona Jat, and Koshen Khan began an indefinite hunger strike atop a water tank near Tonk Phatak bridge in Jaipur.
Protesters claim they will only drink water and have no food, demanding concrete steps to restore student union elections.
Police officer assured them a meeting with the deputy chief minister, but no concrete assurance was given.
The trio have not used the toilet since yesterday and are under control, but may face challenges as time passes.
Assistant Commissioner Narayan Bajia said authorities are trying to persuade them to come down.
