Uttarakhand Transport Corporation Ordered to Pay for Missing Suitcase

Uttarakhand Transport Corporation Ordered to Pay for Missing Suitcase

A man put his suitcase in the luggage compartment of a bus going from Delhi to Dehradun.

The suitcase did not reach him at the end of the trip.

An inquiry found that the bus conductor was responsible for the loss.

A consumer commission first ordered the conductor to pay compensation.

The conductor appealed the decision.

The state commission lowered the amount for the lost things because the man did not have receipts to prove their full value.

It said the transport corporation should pay because the conductor was working for it.

The compensation for mental distress and the legal costs did not change.
