Tilak Varma’s Duleep Trophy Knock Strengthens Test Cricket Case
Tilak Varma helped South Zone reach the Duleep Trophy final.
He scored 116 runs without getting out in the first innings.
Later, he scored another 51 runs without being dismissed.
South needed 181 runs to win and reached the target by losing only three wickets.
Varma stayed calm when South briefly lost wickets.
Ravichandran Smaran helped him with an unbeaten 32.
Together, they added 80 runs.
These performances showed that Varma can bat well in longer red-ball matches, not only in T20 cricket.
However, he may miss the final because he has been selected for India’s T20I series against Afghanistan.
Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten 116 in South Zone’s first innings against North Zone.

Varma and R Smaran shared an unbeaten 80-run fourth-wicket partnership.
South Zone will face East Zone in the final, though Varma’s availability is uncertain because of India’s T20I schedule.
